Approval and water
Engineering, certification, inspections and a lawful drainage route are real scope items, not incidental percentages.

How this is calculated
Formula: wall length × average retained height creates face area. The tool multiplies that area by the selected illustrative system rate, access factor and drainage factor, then adds demolition and the optional professional-services allowance. It displays a 25 per cent margin either side and rounds to $500.
Benchmark source: the selectable rates are editorial planning assumptions compiled on 4 August 2026 from the public cost ranges reviewed for this build. They are not live supplier prices, contractor quotes or a quantity survey.
Assumptions and exclusions: values are Australian dollars for one continuous residential wall. Soil treatment, survey, temporary support, traffic control, unusual structural loads, landscaping, tax treatment and site variations are excluded.
